Is it just me? Or, does our world feel like it is moving a little faster with each passing year? I can’t believe we are already beginning the third six weeks. Our school year is off to a great start, and everyone is working hard. One of the things weighing heavy on everyone’s mind this year is the new STAAR test that the students of George West will be taking in the spring. In 2008, the District developed a Three Phase Master Plan that would allow all of the identified facility needs for the district to be taken care of with three separate bond projects over time. The first phase of this plan called for a bond issue in the amount of $8,595,000 which produced various upgrades and new facilities for the high school, junior high, elementary and primary campuses. George West Primary School has been nominated for the 2012 Blue Ribbon School recognition. This is the third nomination for this prestigious honor for George West Primary School. The school was previously nominated for school years 2004-2005 and 2009-2010, and won this highly esteemed award in 2010. George West Primary School was one of 26 Texas public schools nominated for the 2012 recognition.
