The George West Junior High and High School Life Skills unit is located on the George West High School campus serving students with moderate to sever disabilities. Besides learning functional academics, students participate in an employment preparation program that starts with CBVE (non paid job training) through VAC (paid employment). This program was validated by the Texas Education Agency as a Promising Practice for 2003 and 2006.
Life Skills students also participate in Special Olympics, the Live Oak County Fair and are involved in a variety of clubs on campus, such as FCCLA.
