AXA Achievement Scholarship -- Open to seniors who have been active in community projects and have overcome personal challenges.  www.axa-achievement.comDeadline:  December 15, 2009.

Area Go Texan Scholarship -- Seniors may apply that are in the upper 1/3 of their class, have an SAT score of 1350 or an ACT score of 19, and must enroll in a Texas college or university; students may apply by going to www.hlsr.com/about/scholarships/s-go-texan.aspxDeadline:  MUST TURN IN TO MRS. JAMES BY DECEMBER 17, 2009 -- DO NOT GO BY DUE DATE ON APPLICATION.  These applications have to be turned in to our local Go Texan committee on this date.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program -- Students may apply that are of minority descent, have a 3.3 GPA, and meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility.  www.gmsp.orgDeadline:  January 11, 2010.

Corpus Christi Human Resource Association Scholarship -- Available to senior students attending Del Mar College and enrolled in a Career and Technology degree plan.  Deadline:  January 29, 2010.  Please see Mrs. James for an application.

Texas Student Housing Scholarship -- Open to seniors accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station, or Denton and must show financial hardship.  Deadline:  January 31, 2010.

Burger King Scholars Program -- Seniors must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, work part-time for a minimum of 10 hours per week or 40 weeks per year, and demonstrate financial need.  www.haveityourwayfoundation.orgDeadline:  February 1, 2010.

Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship -- All senior 4-H members may apply.  Deadline:  February 1, 2010 at the Live Oak County Extension Office.

KFC Colonel's Scholars Program -- Senior students must have a 2.75 GPA and demonstrate financial need.  www.kfcscholars.orgDeadline:  February 10, 2010.

Valley Telephone Cooperative Scholarship Program -- Student must be a dependent of a current member of Valley Telephone.  Deadline:  March 16, 2010.

Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship -- Available to high school juniors and seniors; students need to write an essay and submit it by the deadline.  www.abbottandfenner.comDeadline:  June 19, 2010.

Students may also search for scholarships by using the FAST WEB service by logging on to www.fastweb.com.  FAST WEB is the largest free scholarship search service available to students.

Senior students wishing to apply to Texas colleges and universities may do so by using the Texas Common Application.  Students can log on to www.applytexas.org for this application.

Senior students and parents are encouraged to contact Mrs. Kelly James, GWHS Counselor, for information concerning college and scholarship applications.  Local scholarship applications will be given to all senior students in the spring.  More scholarships will be announced in the future.
