Lady Horns Win Bi-District and Area, headed to Regional Quarterfinals

The George West Lady Horns have played hard for two weeks, starting out defeating Taft 50-41 for the chance to represent District 29AAA. Then on Monday night in Three Rivers the Lady Horns matched up against the Cotulla Cowgirls for the Bi-District game.  Both teams came to win and as the final buzzer sounded the score was 57-57 after a Cotulla hit a 3.  In overtime play the Lady Horns never gave up and stuck with their game plan and came out on top 64-61 to move them to the second round of playoffs and the Area game.  The stats for the Bi-District game were as follows, leading the scoring was Brittney Mathis with 13 points, Walker Wright 11, Bethany Brysch 10, Chylee Lefevre 9, Haleigh Warlick 8, Bella Chapa 7, Kylie Wallace and Mykayla Blevens each had 3.  Rebounding leader was Brysch with 8, followed by Chapa 5, Mathis, and Lefevre 2, Brittany Clifton, Wright and Wallace each had 1.  Mathis had 6 steals, Brysch 2, Warlick, Chapa and Wright all had 1.  Wright got a blockand assists came from Mathis and Lefevre 3, Warlick and Chapa 2 and Brysch with 1.

          The Lady Horns took on a good team from Bishop for their Area game, and played a hard fought battle, pulled away on the score board and them Bishop would answer back.  But again George West stuck to their guns and kept the Lady Badgers out of the lane and proved they were the winners 47-37.  Brysch led the Lady Horns with a double-double ; 18 points and 11 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assists.  Wright grabbed 11 rebounds, 4 points and 2 assists, Mathis 6 points and 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 5 assists,  Lefevre had 9 points, 3 steals and 1 assists, Wallace made 6 points, had 6 rebounds and 1 steal, Chapa 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists and 2 points, Ally Ruiz 2 points, Clifton 1 point, Warlick 1 rebound, Blevens, Bridget Upton and Sofia Ibarra rounded off the Lady Horns which helped the team have a successful night against the Lady Badgers of Bishop and moved the Lady Horns to the Regional Quarterfinals game against a District 29AAA foe, Mathis on Tuesday in Sinton at 6:30pm.  Go Lady Horns, take another step forward and stick to the plan.
